Fernando Guerra pioneered the way architecture is photographed and communicated. Twenty-five years ago, he opened the FG+SG studio in collaboration with his brother - Sérgio Guerra, and together they are responsible for much of the dissemination of Portuguese contemporary architecture over the past twenty-five years.

Fernando Guerra is an architectural photographer. However, his background is in architecture. His perspective is divided between two distinct ways of constructing the world. Because of this circumstance, he finds himself in a privileged position to lead the metamorphosis of the photographic field, which will partially identify with the architectural field itself.

His works are regularly featured in various publications both nationally and internationally, in magazines such as Casabella, Wallpaper*, Dwell, Icon, Domus, A U, among many others. Rasmus\'s work is characterized by a wide range of approaches, media, and collaborations, all of which are focused on the representation of the urban environment.

Through architecture and interior photography, Rasmus works with some of the leading practices and institutions in the field of architecture and design focusing on the connection between architecture and environment, inscribing the built structures into their urban context and highlighting their human interactions.

Additionally, Rasmus engages in what he calls territorial photography, combining mapping with aesthetic framing to highlight the urban coastal territories in which he predominantly works. To pursue these interests, he has established a research branch of his studio called COAST. Through COAST, the studio engages in a range of collaborations in practice and academia, working across various media and scales ranging from the immediate local sphere to its larger territorial contexts. These collaborations focus on architecture, planning, and the environment and aim to shed new light on how architecture is shaping and being shaped by the territories it occupies.

The workplace we’re describing, was -fully in line with applicable regulations- equipped with virus-neutralizing gates and vitamin D vaporizers. Nonetheless, coffee mugs were at every desk, and nineties hip-hop was reverberating through the speakers as if it were only the year 2023.

Direction Architects is an international award winning Architecture & Design practice based in Athens and London.  It was founded in 2021 by John Kanakas, with the vision to create living environments, that aim to make people rethink and question their ways of inhabiting everyday spaces. On a broader framework our projects attempt to create experiential spaces that provoke new forms of existence  and  new ways of living. Our formalistic approach aims to awake our deeper consciousness and initiate a discourse across different fields. At Direction, we believe that architectural form derives from a combination of parameters that relate to site specific conditions. Every project is addressed by examining a sum of factors that relate to topographical, enviromental and social drivers. As a result each design proposal has unique design and material characteristics inspired by it\'s local environment.

Enviromental & Design Sustainability

Our practice is rooted in sustainability and landform architecture. Passive design strategies are also part of our design process.  In several cases, our projects aim to merge the boundaries between the built and the natural environment.  In fact with sustainable elements such as green roofs, ramps and vertical gardens, we aim to create a larger green footprint than the plot land area of the site.

We constantly question our strong formalistic design approach with new design techniques and construction processes, in order to come up with the most optimal outcomes, while implementing the fastest production methods and techniques.
