Town Houses Puerto Ángel

Puerto Angel is a luxury suite complex located in the stunning bay of Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, nestled within a dramatic site defined by a 50° slope and surrounded by imposing cliffs and lush native vegetation. The main challenge of the project was to develop a real estate proposal that would honor and preserve the natural landscape, integrating vertical architecture without disrupting the terrain’s integrity.

The architectural solution was to arrange the suites in a staggered manner, strategically following the site's altimetric variations. This layout not only respects the natural topography of the land but also maximizes panoramic views of the Pacific horizon, offering users an immersive experience that blends architecture and nature.
To meet the demands of the terrain, a structural system of slender columns and reticular slabs was employed. This approach ensures both structural stability and spatial fluidity, allowing interiors to remain open and directly connected to the outdoors. Each suite’s roof doubles as a terrace for the unit above, optimizing spatial functionality while fostering a vertical rhythm throughout the complex.
The material palette—wood, glass, and concrete—was chosen for its ability to harmonize with the environment. The facades are designed to open broadly toward the ocean, providing breathtaking 270° views. When privacy or protection is needed, wooden louvers come into play, shielding interiors while maintaining a visual and textural continuity with the surrounding landscape. Their natural coloration helps the structure fade gently into its coastal setting.

Puerto Angel exemplifies a design ethos that balances environmental sensitivity with refined living. It enhances the natural setting rather than imposing upon it, merging aesthetics and functionality to create a tranquil architectural retreat. Through careful integration of structure, materiality, and site-specific strategy, the complex celebrates the wild beauty of Oaxaca’s coastline while offering a sophisticated experience rooted in place.
