MERSIN HYDROTHERAPY AND PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTER
It is aimed to redesign and transform the Mertim skyscraper and its base section, one of the first skyscrapers in Türkiye, designed by Cengiz Bektaş in the Mersin province in the Mediterranean Region of Türkiye and currently in an idle state. While designing this re-transformation, it was necessary to add the metropolitan program..After the earthquake, the dense urbanization and lack of green areas in the city center, along with the population migrating to the city, make it difficult to access both physical and psychological healing opportunities.A public green area was designed on the ground floor to meet this;it was aimed to be a starting point where the city breathes and socializes.The rigid and static formula of the mass was softened with the holes opened to the courtyard and transformed into thematic healing gardens rising towards the tower floors.With different themes such as different experience gardens and resting areas on each floor,nature-integrated therapy, both group and individual session opportunities are offered.By being surrounded by physiotherapy and hydrotherapy units receiving daylight, green areas and indoor gardens, the physical treatment process turns into a peaceful nature experience.The project aims to replace the green that is missing in the city performance with a structural solution,
while uniting people's bodies and souls with a holistic approach.At the same time, it aims to reach many elderly, disabled and accessible people with the help of municipal units.
