Indian architect and curator Tanya Khanna is the founder of Epistle, the first and largest communications consultancy for architects and designers in South Asia.

Khanna began her lifelong obsession with design discourse in 2004 as an architectural journalist in India. Post a stint of working and studying in the UK, she returned to India and set up Epistle with the intent to formalize design communications and make South Asian architecture and design more accessible to global audiences. Bridging the gap that exists between design, practice and business, Epistle provides editorial, strategic communications, marketing, and PR services within the domains of art, architecture, design, and allied disciplines by working with all stakeholders that shape the built environment. Epistle is committed to Democratising Architecture –– giving a voice to design and to all those who practice, influence, or experience it.

Tanya has written extensively for Indian & International media and has co-authored, and editorially directed over a dozen architectural books and monographs. Being deeply involved with design education and pedagogy in India, she has been a strong influence in the field of design education in India and has been instrumental in conceptualising the academic agenda of three of India’s leading architecture and design schools. She’s a GRIHA certified Evaluator, exhibiting a strong commitment towards sustainable design expertise, and has been part of various academic and professional design juries and events including being a juror at the Dezeen Awards 2021.
Having worked with over a 100 architects, design practitioners and leading design events, Tanya has been passionately advocating good design for over fifteen years. She comes from within the design industry and brings with her an intrinsic understanding of what businesses in the AEC domain need to succeed, and her holistic advice continues to help design brands, studios and large practices alike.
