Jamie Maslyn Larson of BIG to discuss

Jamie Maslyn Larson, landscape architect and Director of Landscape Architecture at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), will be our new guest in WAC's Live Interview Series. WAC's new session will be hosted by Pappal Suneja, WAC's India Country Editor and Research Scholar, Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau, Germany.

WAC's live interview series explore different themes decided by WAC Country Reporter or Country Editor in each session. 

In WAC's new session, Jamie Maslyn Larson ASLA PLA, who oversees significant masterplans and sustainable projects of BIG, including BiodiverCity, Penang in Malaysia, BQ-Park in Brooklyn, East Side Coastal Resiliency Project in Manhattan, New York, will discuss the multi-disciplinary aspects of landscape architecture which goes beyond the traditional boundaries of landscape design in architecture and urbanism. 

Themed as Building Nature into Cities, she will broadly discuss the importance of natural environment and biodiversity exploring the term of "hedonistic sustainability", which sits at the core of design principles of BIG.

Jamie’s career has focused on creating built works that demonstrate the power of landscape to positively shape cities for the benefit of people and the biosphere. 

At Bjarke Ingels Group, Jamie works across disciplines with over 200 designers in master planning, infrastructure, ecological, resiliency and landscape architecture projects. Before joining BIG, Jamie was a Partner in the New York office of West 8, where she was Principal in Charge of the firm’s award-winning United States portfolio including the firm’s most emblematic projects: Governors Island, Soundscape, and Longwood Gardens.

Jamie Maslyn Larson has worked on the masterplan of Downtown Brooklyn Public Realm Action Plan, New York, Wildflower Film Studios Queens in New York, The Creamery in San Francisco, California, San Diego Aquarium in California and WeWork HQ, Manhattan in New York.

WAC's live interviews are held as 20-30-minute sessions to deliver a quick glimpse of the current projects of the architect and the office and provide a fast-paced discussion on the architects' design philosophy.
