Russell Dandeniya is a distinguished and visionary Architect known for his design excellence, leadership, and community commitment. A graduate of the University of Moratuwa, his career began with a strong foundation from Rahula College, Matara.
He holds numerous leadership positions, including President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (2021–2023) and Chairman of the Architects Registration Board. He also served as Chairman of the City School of Architecture (2021–2023). Regionally, he was the Vice President Zone A of ARCASIA and Chairman of the ARCASIA Committee on Social Responsibility, in addition to being affiliated with the American Institute of Architects (Int. Asso. AIA).
His innovative work has earned him widespread acclaim, making him the first Sri Lankan Architect to receive the AIA Honor Award and the Sustainable Future Award (2019). Other accolades include the Young Architect of the Year Award (2008), the SLIA Merit Award (2018), a JASTICA Award for Best CSR Project, and the Best Sustainable Project Award in Sri Lanka.
As a committed community leader, he served two terms as President of the Rotary Club of Capital City, winning multiple District Citations. He also received the RI President Wilf Wilkinson Award for his impactful work on the Tsunami School Reawakening Project and is recognized as a Double Paul Harris Fellow for his significant civic contributions.
Guided by his philosophy to "Explore, Practice, Teach, and Lead," Dandeniya continues to inspire future generations.
