"For New York lovers of architecture and design, the beginning of fall isn't about pumpkin spice and decorative gourds—rather, it means Archtober".

Archtober (ärk’tōbər) is the name of the annual month-long architecture and design festival including building tours, lectures, exhibitions taking place across New York city’s five boroughs. This year the city will host Archtober for the seventh time from 1st to 31st of October.  

The festival is appeared from the effort of collaboration of New York Built environment including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Chapter, the Center for Architecture and 70 + partners and organizations across the city. The idea of the festival is to emphasize the awareness of architecture and highlight its importance in our daily life through exhibitions, lectures, and tours.

The festival offers a variety of events and programs during October. In one of the leading series; "Building of the Day" including architect-led tours, visitors will have chance to tour the contemporary attractions would change architecture world in New York City. The Noguchi Museum, New Lab / Brooklyn Navy Yard, 56 Leonard Street and Governors Island – The Hills are few the most attracted ones of the tours in the series.

And also a gift will be waiting for visitors. Stamped postcards designed by New York-based international design firm Pentagram will be given during the Building of the day tours, and at the end of the month, the person with the most is going to get an autographed copy of the AIA Guide to New York City.

Besides, the series Workplace Wednesdays will allow architecture and design lovers to get into the leading architecture firms, to talk and watch their presentation in their offices. Rockwell Group, Shop Architects and Studio Libeskind are few of the names on this year’s list.

On the weekend of 14 and 15 October, Open House New York will provide members of the public the opportunity to visit some of the city's well known iconic buildings, many of which are usually not accessible.
