''How To Create Value In Architecture by Art and Design. Real Cases!'' session has been held at MIPIM 2016 Innovation Forum. The aim of this session was to redefine the role of art and design in architecture and to understand how 'art pieces' change the way we think buildings or public spaces. The speakers of the panel were including Isabelle de Ponfilly, Country manager, Vitra France, Arik Levy, technician, photographer, designer, video artist and Patrick Mccrae, Managing Director, ARTIQ Limited (moderator).
''Sometimes art and design are forgotten by investors or developers while we're building many buildings'' said Patrick Mccrae, Managing Director, ARTIQ Limited. It has been discussed that art and design plays an important role in architecture or in renovation projects, which changes and questions the quality of life. Isabelle de Ponfilly has showed many examples from Paris and France in general in order to understand how they shaped our environment physically and sensorially. Especially, Vitra Campus project was the focus of the discussion in this session.
Erik Levy has talked about the role of art works installed in front of many famous buildings. Levy has also showed many examples from the history to reinterpret the value of art pieces in terms of different contextual layers. ''Urban saces are always corporating with art'' said Levy. ''Art becomes a system, sign and landmark and influences our daily environment'' he added. ''Art is not a physical space but art is an imaginable space'' Levy added. In addition, ''if you add art work to your buildings, it increases the prices of houses in Paris because it is directly related to the quality of life and people are motivated by the value of art'' added Isabelle de Ponfilly, Country manager, Vitra France.
