On September 15th, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will host the Distinguished Architects Lecture Series featuring Ma Yansong, Founding Principal of MAD Architects (Beijing, Los Angeles). Organized by Francesca Garcia-Marques, the lecture series has been a staple in L.A.’s architectural discourse since its former installment in 1999, titled the “Master of Architecture Lecture Series.”
Located in LACMA’s Bing Theater, the evening’s presentation will begin with at 7:30 with an introduction by architecture critic Michael Webb. Ma will exclusively share forthcoming cultural projects, including Harbin Cultural Island, along with two recent Los Angeles-based projects: Cloud Corridor-a speculative proposal-and 8600 Wilshire.
Ma will also speak about "Shanshui City," a conceptual vision to create a balance between society, the city, and the environment through new forms of architecture, discussing how this design philosophy can continually be applied as MAD continues to grow in China and beyond, into North American and Europe. The Distinguished Architects Lecture Series is Presented by LACMA, Organized by Francesca Garcia-Marques, and Sponsored by Bulthaup Los Angeles.
