Ruairí O’Brien was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1962. O’Brien studied architecture in London at the University of Greenwich {BA {Hons} RIBA part I} and undertook post graduate studies at Edinburgh University in Scotland, {Dipl Arch RIBA part II} and was a “Visiting Scholar” at Columbia University in New York. O’Brien undertook his studies for the RIBA part III qualifications at Westminster University in London.
O’Brien’s architectural practice works in the areas of architecture, lighting design and urban art projects. O’Brien’s projects deal with the subject of memory and the passing of time. Accompanying the built projects and installations O’Brien has published articles and drawings on these themes and has had several exhibitions of his work demonstrating his holistic approach to architecture and urban living. O’Brien has taught architecture and lighting design at universities in Germany and in the Czech Republic.
