Hologram facade in the optic city of Jena. A day and night walk in light sculpture. The Glass facade is always changing in the eye of the viewer as he or she moves across the market square due to the changing angles of view in relation to the angle of the sun. The use of different types of glass used increases the visual enjoyment. The concept creates a unique spatial experience of unending layers of lightrooms and moments. The historical building dating from the middle ages is transported into the future and is given a new lease of life.
The interactive exhibition I have designed for the "City Storage Building" is a major part of the holistic concept, interacting with the facade and the movement of the sun. The idea is to create a new type of tourist/museum information system that combines the aura of the original building substance with contemporary architecture, lighting design, lighting philosophy, "Living" museum and multimedia.
The spirit of the city is captured in this one building project and rovides the visitors with clues as to how one should discover the city. The German word "speicher" is multi-layered meaning storage, recording, and is in this sense a further example of what I call my "memory architecture projects" or "story telling architecture" projects. The citys tourist information office is positioned on the ground floor, the upper floors are exhibition rooms and a conference space where the vsiitor can enjoy a "micro" journey through the spirit and identity of the famous city of optics, glass and light in, set into the macro context which can be personally discovered in further depth by walking through the city. It is the third micromuseum I have created which can grow with the interest of the citizens of Jena.
