Anna Heringer was born in 1977 in Rosenheim. She studied architecture at the University of Art in Linz, Austria. For her master-thesis „School -handmade in Bangladesh“ –realized with Eike Roswag– she recieved the Aga Khan Award for Architecture {2007}, the AR Emerging Architecture Award {2006}, the Archiprix International - Hounter Douglas Award {2007}, and the 2007 Kenneth Brown Asia Pasific Culture And Architecture Design Award amongst other prizes. She has conducted hands-on workshops for students with BASEhabitat in South Africa and Bangladesh. The results of these workshops were rewarded with the International Energy Globe 2007 and the AR Emerging Architecture Award 2008. She was teaching at the University in Stuttgart as holder of the Gertrud Luise Goldschmidt Professorship and is currently visiting professor at the University of Art and Design Linz. There she is leading the project studio BASEhabitat – building for developing countries. She has been involved in rural development work with the NGOs Shanti and Dipshikha since 1997.
