Institute Honor Awards for Architecture
Since 1949, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has celebrated outstanding architecture through the Honor Awards program. The AIA continues that tradition by inviting you to submit your firm’s best recent work for the 2015 program.
Eligibility
All architects licensed in the United States are eligible to submit regardless of project size, budget, style, building type, or location. Entries are welcomed and encouraged from both established and new practitioners and designers and from small firms and large. New buildings and renovations/restorations are eligible. You may submit multiple entries.
An entry may be any building or complex of buildings completed since January 1, 2008.
An entry must have been designed by an architect licensed in the United States or in one of its territories at the time of the project’s completion. “Completion” is synonymous with “substantial completion” as defined in the standard AIA documents governing construction. The entry is to be submitted by the architect.
The submitting architect may qualify as a member of a design team, whether or not serving as the head of the team. When one architect is not the sole author, all other participants contributing substantially to the design of the project must be given credit as part of the submission, regardless of professional discipline.
For multiple building projects, the architect submitting the project (or portion thereof) shall offer detailed evidence of authorship of each portion of the project.
Deadlines and Submission Fees
The submission fee is $425 for AIA members and $850 for non-members.There is no fee for the Twenty-five Year Award. All submissions must be received before 5:00 p.m. (Eastern) on August 22, 2014. The submission deadline date will be strictly observed; no exceptions will be made
Special Offer
Submit a project in the Architecture category, and receive a 50 percent discount on an Interior Architecture submission—this can be either the same project or another project from your portfolio
Eligibility Criteria and the 2015 Honor Awards Juries
If you submit a project, the following applies for entrants and jurors within each individual program:
Any project that credits 2015 Institute Honor Awards jury members or their firms as architect, associate architect, consultant, or client are ineligible and will be disqualified if submitted.
Communication with Institute Honor Awards jurors from the time of submittal to completion of the jury process by the candidate or anyone acting on their behalf is inappropriate and cause for disqualification.
