Kristin Feireiss and Ratan N. Tata join the Pritzker Architecture Prize jury.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize committee appointed two new members to its jury, increasing its number to eight and adding its only woman. Kristin Feireiss of Germany and Ratan N. Tata of India were installed as new jurors last week.

Feireiss, a Berlin-born architecture curator and writer, founded the architecture forum Aedes in 1980. She has led the forum, with Hans-Jürgen Commerell, since 1994. She served as the director of the Netherlands Architecture Institute for five years and as a commission for the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale twice. Feiress was named a Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 2013 and has served int he European Cultural Parliament since 2007. In 2009, Feireiss published Architecture in the Time of Need: Make It Right—Rebuilding New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward, with contributions from actor Brad Pitt.

Tata was the chairman of Tata Sons, the holding group for the Tata Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate company based in Mumbai, which he calls home; he is now chairman emeritus. Tata has served on a diverse range of boards (Cornell University and the University of Southern California) and international advisory groups (Mitsubishi Corporation, JPMorgan Chase, and Rolls-Royce). He is the chairman of the India's largest philanthropic trust, and he established a $25 million endowment at Cornell, his alma mater, to support undergraduate students from India.

Feireiss and Tata join six other members of the Pritzker jury: Lord Peter Palumbo (its chair); architects and Harvard University professors Alejandro Aravena and Yung Ho Chang; British-born Australian architect (and Pritzker Prize winner) Glenn Murcutt; Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa; and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.

The next official meeting of the Pritzker Prize is scheduled for January. The Pritzker committee is hosting an event to honor its 2013 laureate, Toyo Ito, on May 29
