Hasier Larrea of Ori will talk about smart ways of micro spaces in WAC's live talk

Hasier Larrea, founder of Brooklyn-based studio Ori, will be WAC's new guest in WAC Live Interview Series.

Hasier Larrea will talk about smart and efficient ways of micro spaces that rediscover the power of minimal living. 

Titled Minimal Architecture, A New Movement of High Density Urban Living, Larrea will discuss how micro spaces, which is a rapidly increasing trend after the pandemic, can be transformed into more liveable and flexible spaces.

Creating transformative small spaces by combining architecture, robotics and technology, the studio offers smart solutions that meet the changing demands in a smaller footprint with new products Ori produces.

Hasier Larrea will be in conversation with WAC's the Netherlands Country Reporter Lola Kleindouwel on Thursday, June 16th in WAC's Instagram.

Hasier Larrea is an award-winning engineer, designer, and entrepreneur. 

He founded Ori in 2015 and has been leading a team in designing and building a collection of smart spaces that enable the elegant and effortless transformation of any room, on demand. 

Ori currently offers six products with projects in 36 cities in the United States with some of the nation's leading real estate developers.

The Rosie is one of the key projects of Ori. The Rosie has transformed one-bedroom living space into a studio space, with walk-through closet, a workspace, a living room and storage. One flexible space can be adapted according to user's daily routine.

Before Ori, Hasier led the Architectural Robotics research area at the MIT Media Lab, focusing on creating a new generation of hyper-efficient and responsive urban spaces by combining the disciplines of Architecture and Engineering. 

In 2017, Larrea was included in the Manufacturing & Industry category of Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list. 

Larrea holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Navarra, Spain and a Master’s in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT.

Fifteen Fifty project is located within a new 40-story tower in San Francisco, the space features luxury amenities, the Cloud Bed, Sofa Edition, walk-in-closet. The space offers residents an extra space they need for work, entertaining, or relaxing.

Ori combines robotics with architecture to create expandable and efficient spaces at the touch of a button. Ori combines engineering, technology and design expertise to empower people to live large in a smaller footprint. 

WAC's live interviews are held as 20-30-minute sessions to deliver a quick glimpse of the current projects of the architect and the office and provide a fast-paced discussion on the architects' design philosophy.
