Metu Department of Architecture completes spring 2017-2018 final juries with graduation show

METU's Department of Architecture wrapped up a fertile academic year with finals, reviews, studio critics of undergraduate studios and the annual graduation show, showing the best student works from METU's diverse and international student body at the Faculty of Architecture.
The 4th Year final juries were held on May 21-22, 2018 at the Faculty of Architecture with studio instructors, faculty members and guest members outside of the Faculty of Architecture.

Having drawn from the long legacy of the Faculty of Architecture, the triggering critics by the faculty members and guest members were once more shaped around the condenser ideas of urbanism, the future of architecture, cities and critical thinking on path-breaking ideas and intellectual generosity. The expansive graduation show culminated with outstanding studio projects and models, which are still displayed at the Main Hall of the Faculty of Architecture.

The 4th Year Studios were divided into 4 groups in which each of them evaluated different geographies and contexts with different topics for their final studio projects. The 1st group, led by Prof. Ayşen Savaş, Arzu Gönenç Sorguç, Onat Öktem, Tolga Hazan and Sezin Sarıca, worked on a new Center of Architecture - titled "Next To Masters: Centro di Architettura Bologna" in Italy. The critics were held with Faculty Members, including Güven Arif Sargın, Bekir Özer Ay, İpek Gürsel Dino, Pelin Yoncacı, Erkin Aytaç, Fırat Özgenel, Sinan Cem Kızıl, Duygu Simser and guest members. The students' works brought into the stage a series of incredible models tested by different hand-crafted techniques, representations and presentations.

Batuhan Sezer's "Linear Stratification" for Zonguldak
The 2nd group, led by Celal Abdi Güzer, Lale Özgenel, Yeşim Hatırlı, Öncü Özalp, worked on a new Earth Sciences Institute in Zonguldak, which was titled as "In Search for 'the World we live in': Earth Sciences Institute Zonguldak". The incisive critics were held with Faculty Members composed of Elvan Altan, Mualla Erkılıç, Nimet Özgönül, Kadri Atabaş, Ömer Faruk Alp, Meltem Çetiner, İrem Hafız, alongside guest members outside of the Faculty.

Dersu Değer's "Hacking Kiev" for Kiev, Russia
Büşra Öner's "The Imaginarium" for Kiev
The 3rd group, led by Cana Bilsel, Chair of the Department, Eren Başak, Koray Pekeriçli, Neris Parlak, studied a new Hub for Research on Life and Environmental Sciences in Kiev in which various students' works proposed different types of architecture for the context. The critics were held with Faculty Members composed of Aydan Balamir, Neriman Şahin Güçhan, Ali Uzay Peker, Ela Alanyalı Aral, Marco Bruno, Elif Bekar, Özgün Özçakır, Nazelin Pişkin, alongside guest members outside of the Faculty.
Group 4: "The Grain Palace: Kiev Grain Reasearch Institute Museum And Seed Bank, Ukraine", led by Zeynep Mennan, Egemen Berker Kızılcan

The 4th group, led by Zeynep Mennan, Egemen Berker Kızılcan, studied on a new Grain Research Institute, Museum and Seed Bank in Ukraine, which was titled as "The Grain Palace". The critics were held with Faculty Members, including Esin Kömez, Hasan Okan Çetin, Duygu Tüntas Karaman, Ensar Temizel, as well as guest members outside of the Faculty.
