Studied architecture at the Middle East Technical University (METU), where she has been teaching architectural design and history courses. Carried out doctoral research as Fulbright scholar at UC Berkeley. Held architectural practice in private offices and through university fund projects; prime designer of a department building realised at METU campus. Worked in executive and editorial boards of professional bodies; served in competition and award juries, including the National Architecture Awards program of the Chamber of Turkish Architects (committee chairperson, 1997-2004). Member of the Heritage Conservation Boards of Cappadocia and Ankara Historical Centre since 1997. Undertook the research and design co-ordination of international exhibitions on the Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister (2001-2002) and architecture in Turkey (2002-2004). Published and lectured in the field of architectural theory, history and criticism, focusing on architectural modernism and design education.
