World Architecture Community has released its fourth documentary about world-renowned American architect Philip Johnson within the scope of WAC's exclusive Life & Architecture series which was announced on April 23, 2020.

Philip Johnson was an important figure of modernism and he was known for helping to redefine postmodernist architecture with the AT&T building in Manhattan which was recently set to be renovated by Norwegian studio Snøhetta. 

He brought the International Style to America in 1932 with his MoMA exhibition and designed pure modernist forms with the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut which is the first irony of the AT&T building. 

WAC's new documentary includes exclusive interviews with Philip Johnson and Peter Eisenman. 

WAC has launched Life & Architecture documentary series to give a detailed and in-depth look at many key buildings of contemporary architecture. The exclusive documentaries, captured from the 1990s,  present an outstanding virtual journey throughout the buildings. 

Each documentary or episode features the buildings' distinctive features and the design stories of such important commissions narrated with exclusive interviews with architects, commissioners of the projects and project leaders. 

As the documentaries had been recorded for a Turkish television in 1990s, all the videos are presented in Turkish language but featuring English subtitles. However, the series are not outdated, on the contrary, these documentaries have a very high archive value to recapture the essence of the buildings. 

While introducing the world's changing trends in architecture to USA, the American architect Philip Johnson had also used his financial reserves to build on his estate in New Canaan, Connecticut. 

A 20-minute video covers Philip Johnson's campus consisting of 9 buildings situated on a 16-hectare area. The campus includes The Glass House (1945), The Guest House (1949), The Lake Pavilion (1962), Painting Gallery (1965), Sculpture Gallery (1970), The Study Room (1984), Lincoln Kirstein Tower (1985), The Anti-Deer House (also known Ghost House) (1985) and The Information House (1994) which was added later to the campus.  

WAC will be releasing a new documentary each week on Fridays. WAC's new documentary will be posted on Friday, May 29, 2020 on the website and on WAC's Vimeo page.
