United Kingdom Architecture News - Apr 22, 2020 - 11:29 9474 views
World Architecture Community will be releasing exclusive documentary series taking you to a historical journey within important buildings captured in the 1990s.
Called Life & Architecture, WAC's documentary series will be comprising of 12 episodes, covering various topics, ranging from the American architect Philip Johnson to key buildings of contemporary architecture - including Vitra Furniture Factory in Weil am Rhein, Germany, the pioneering of the British National Lottery Administration in the United Kingdom, with Lowry Arts Centre in Manchester and the Tate Modern Art Museum and Millennium Bridge in London and more...
WAC's documentary series were prepared in the 1990s to provide an in-depth look to key buildings of contemporary architecture, the buildings' features and the design stories of such important commissions, including exclusive interviews with architects, commissioners of the projects and project leaders.
In 1990s, the documentaries of WAC had been recorded for a Turkish television, so the videos are presented in Turkish language but featuring English subtitles.
WAC's documentary series present a very high archive value in terms of their originality
Although the visual quality of the videos doesn't address to our digital age's technology and presentation, we would like to reiterate that they were prepared and visualized with the shooting techniques of that time. But, don't be fooled, it is not outdated, on the contrary, it has a very high archive value as all documentaries transmit the original design story behind the buildings.
WAC's videos will take you on a journey of the selected buildings as if they were like taking "a section" from the history. We will be releasing 1 documentary a week on a specific day - each week on Friday.
Our first documentary will be available on Friday, May 1 on WAC News and our Vimeo page. The first video will present "Big Projects Paris - Part 1" (there will be 2 more episodes about this documentary).
This episode will cover Paris city's big projects. Orsay Station by Victor Laloux, Centre Pompidou by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, Bastille Opera House by Carlos Ott and Louvre Museum by I.M. Pei are only a few of them in this episode.
