Call for Candidates:Phyllis Lambert Design Montréal Grant 2014

The Phyllis Lambert Design Montréal Grant was created in honour of Ms. Lambert, Founding Director Emeritus of the CCA, a Great Montrealer and defender of the emerging generation in design.
The grant is awarded annually by the Ville de Montréal. It is intended to mark the outstanding quality of studies and work by Montréal designers who have 10 years or less of professional experience and to emphasize the interest they have shown in the city. Ms. Lambert also contributes to the professional development of this new generation as concerns urban design issues and promotes international exchanges within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
A $10,000 award is given to the grant recipient. The grant must be used for a professional development project that involves a design theme focusing on the city and takes place in one of the 41 cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
The professional development project may be in the form of:
  • a study trip;
  • a work internship;
  • participation in a design competition, workshop, symposium
  • any other activity relevant to the advancement of a nascent design career

 

Jury Aand Assessment Criteria

An independent jury made up of representatives recognized by the design community will study the eligible applications using the following assessment criteria:
  • quality and relevance of the applicant’s profile (e.g., calibre of achievements, involvement in the community);
  • interest and relevance of the grant’s contribution to the proposed project;
  • contacts already established;
  • feasibility of the proposal;
  • clarity of applicant’s work intentions;
  • presentation quality of the application documentation.

 

The jury members for the 2014 edition are: 
  • Giovanna Borasi, Chief Curator, Canadian Centre for Architecture; 
  • Diane Charbonneau, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Decorative Arts, Montréal Museum of Fine Arts; 
  • Georges Labrecque, Project Manager, Centre de design de l’UQAM; 
  • Maxime-Alexis Frappier, Architect and Partner, President, ACDF; 
  • Stéphane Ricci, Assistant to the Director and Coordinator, Quartier des spectacles, Ville de Montréal 

 

Submissions And Deadlines

The application period ends on Friday, September 19, 2014, at 4:30 PM.
