World-renowned creative agency Sid Lee, established in Montreal, recently branched into architectural practice in 2009 and since then has completed several high-profile projects, including last year's transformation of Montreal's Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel (best known for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Bed-in for Peace"); in collaboration with Architecture 49, a year-long renovation included dramatically updating all interior spaces of the late-1950s structure, which is the largest Canadian hotel east of Toronto.

On the international stage, next month Sid Lee Architecture will reach sports fans as the design partner for the Canada Olympic House, which will welcome all Canadians and Team Canada fans visiting the games in South Korea. For the first time, admission to the Canada Olympic House includes the general public.

"This unique opportunity allowed us to collaborate on an iconic space that will be a physical representation of the Canadian Olympic spirit outside of our borders and on display for the world to see," explains Martin Leblanc, Architect, Partner, Sid Lee Architecture. The firm also developed this year's brand campaign for the Canadian Olympic Committee, to be revealed later this month.

The 12,000-square-foot space is divided into several lounge and seating areas. Along with the requisite maple leaf motif – present in the layout of the bleachers – there will be Canadian cuisine, including complimentary poutine at the Air Canada patio. Visitors will also be able to purchase Team Canada merchandise and enjoy special events and programming. Furnishings are supplied by Canadian Tire.

The opening ceremony takes place in early February, with admission to the general public on February 10th to 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m; admission to the Canada Olympic House is free but must be booked in advance online.
