The exhibition Found in Translation: Palladio – Jefferson presents recent work by the documentary and architecture photographer Filippo Romano on the villas conceived by Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580) in the Veneto region and the buildings designed by the American President and architect Thomas Jefferson (1743 – 1826). Conceived with the architecture historian and director of the Palladio Museum, Guido Beltramini, this exhibition examines the dissemination of Palladio’s work through his treatise I Quattro Libri dell’Architettura(The Four Books of Architecture) and its influence in North America as exemplified in Jefferson’s architecture. By revealing the links between the work of the two architects, the series of photographs explores the ideas of displacement and legacy of architectural principles across continents and time.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Palladio Museum, Vicenza. The vernissage is 8 October at 6 pm. There’s a limited capacity so please RSVP before 6 October at [email protected].
