World Architecture Festival (WAF) has announced its 2016 program for the festival hall talks featuring 85 dynamic speakers who will be delivering 40 horizon-expanding talks across three diverse stages. The annual World Architecture Festival is taking place this year at the Berlin Arena, between 16-18 November, and World Architecture Community is an official media partner for the event.
WAF features keynote talks from the industry’s most influential figures, and provides a unique opportunity to sit alongside and to network with the judges of more than 400 award finalists. WAF also offers a finalist projects gallery and a product exhibition.
The WAF Festival Hall talks focus on working globally, disruptive technology, next generation design and the latest in architectural theory as well as enabling intimate exchange with some of the world’s most respected architects.
This theme of this year's festival is “Housing For Everyone.” Inspired by a variety of influences, markedly the condition of displaced communities of political and disaster refugees, lectures will focus on “the growing understanding of how demographics and global urbanization are forcing change; and the imperatives to create shelter at one end of the spectrum, and sufficiency for occupation and investment at the other.”
WAF 2016 Festival Hall stage will host prestigious architects and keynote speakers from diverse architectural practices including; Ivan Harbour, Partner, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners-Housing and construction – advancing quality and speed to deliver housing where it is needed the most, Monica von Schmalensee, Principal, White-My kind of house - giving a personal take on her ideal house, Tom Alexander, Director, Aukett Swanke and Sam Bernard, Global Product Development Director, Dyson-Disruptive Design – challenging the norm to deliver cut through in a crowded market, Wong Chiu Man, Principal, Wow Architects- Global housing update – understanding the changing face of Indian housing, James Pickard, Principal, Cartwright Pickard and Professor Bernd Wegener, Institute of Social Sciences, Humboldt University- Healthy Homes – improving daylight and air quality and Richard Hassell, Principal, Woha and Niklas Maak, Arts Editor, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung-Richard responds to filmed interviews with building occupants to review the success of their design as well as the building’s management.
