Malaysian Architects Working For Homeless Shelters In Kuala Lumpur

The municipal authority in Kuala Lumpur entrusted the Malaysian Institute of Architects' well being and housing committee with the task of organising an ideas competition for the design of temporary structures to shelter homeless people in the city.

Nearly one hundred architects, students, and urban planners suggested pertinent and original solutions, that were exhibited and published in a work that can be downloaded from here.This competition was intended to underline Malaysian architect's sense of solidarity and their ability to provide solutions for social needs. It further tried to dispel the idea that architects work only for the benefit of society's elite.The solutions held in 3 major categories;''Pam Corporate Members'',''Non-Pam Corporate Members, Lam Members,Mip Members & DBKL Officers'' and ''Pam Student Members'' and each category included 3 winners and 2 Honorable Mentions.We share 3 winners from each category below;
