Paris-based architecture studio Jacob+Macfarlane has completed Euronews' new HQ building along the banks of the saône river in Lyon, which marks the city context with its luminous green presence. The project is part of a major masterplan proposed at renewing the city’s confluence district, formerly an abandoned dockland. The overall scheme of the building draws an 'unusual' appearance for the city residents that attract visitors attantion at first sight. This odd news television channel offers a modern and contemporary new home in the district Confluence, where two big rivers—Rhône and Saône.

Euronews houses about 800 staff in Lyon and they have a total of 10,000 square meters working space—multimedia offices, high-tech facilities, and studios—across six floors. This green-massive office building includes a huge holes on its perforated facade -it is very beyond a piece of architecture and the building is very visible at the heart of Lyon.

''The Euronews project is conceived as a stretched cube pierced by two conical atriums introducing daylight, air and providing views of the river for the building’s users. These atriums are imagined as two gigantic eyes looking onto the river and its environment'' says Jakob+MacFarlane architects.

''Symbolically, the eyes also represent those of Euronews, abstract receptors, capturing the events of the world around us. An image that resonates with the role of observer of world affairs associated with the news channel.'' adds Jakob+MacFarlane architects.

The reference of perforated green pattern derived from color of the river and the undulating landscape that reflects on the facade as a new interface element. The french artist fabrice hyber created the pattern of the perforated elevation in the building  and acts both symbolically and functionally, which stimulates the aliveness of this sculptural piece at the heart of Lyon. The interior of the building includes two main program: public service spaces at ground level, including the entry hall and restaurant, and the headquarters of euronews, complete with various offices, recording studios, and multimedia spaces
