Dr. Aryan Shahabian is a Vienna-based architectural designer and engineer, urban strategist, researcher, and multifaceted artist whose work brings together cutting-edge experimental design, structure, scientific inquiry, and contemporary art. He holds an inter-/multidisciplinary doctorate (Dr.techn.) in Engineering Sciences Architecture from TU Wien, as well as two Master’s degrees from the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Urban Strategies) and IUST (Architecture, with a nationally acclaimed diploma project).
As a co-founder of Pasargad Consulting Architects and Planners and a collaborator with practices such as Coop Himmelb(l)au, Fluid Motion Architects, and Bahram Shirdel, Aryan has contributed to a wide range of projects exploring advanced architecture, computational design, generative and parametric methodologies, integrated building performance simulation, life-cycle assessments, and sustainable strategies and experimentation at intersections of architecture, art, engineering, and urban design. Reflecting his ongoing engagement with research and education, he has served on multiple international conference committees, and editorial boards for books and journals.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale, Dorotheum and Künstlerhaus in Vienna, and has been recognized with honors such as the Mirmiran Architecture Award and a World Architecture Community Awards shortlist. Aryan remains committed to advancing thoughtful inter-, trans-, and cross-disciplinary approaches to contemporary art, design, architecture, and research within the built environment and beyond.
