The Vale Covo Farm is located in the Municipality of Sever do Vouga, near the village of Paradela, along the Vouga River. The land is situated in a mountainous area with wooded slopes, being essentially characterized by topography, the vegetation cover, and by rural structures related to the activities of agriculture and forestry.
The farm is traversed by a water line that runs through a valley and is compartmentalized by an artificial embankment semi circular seating of an old twin-rail which generates a discontinuity in the natural topography of the land.
The objectives of the project consisted in preserving the landscape and existing environmental and architectural reordering of Vale do Covo Farm.
The study sought to develop a globally coordinated solution taking into account the recovery and regeneration of areas of cultivation and forest areas, integrating a balanced new construction with existing structures of small scale.
The street traffic proposal was based on the existing network of paths, considering its downsizing and its repaving and in order to restore existing circuits, linking the various nuclei and enhance proposed various readings of the landscape. The court intends to be come mark a significant moment of arrival at the farm and create a moment of pause, preceding the sequel to the other nucleus.
