It’s the final countdown!
Entries for the World Architecture Festival awards close this Friday. Don’t miss your chance to take home a title in 2014 and put your work on the world stage. All you need to do is open your entries account before 30 May to be in the running – easy!

Entries have been pouring in from architectural practices across the globe, from small local studios to large international practices including BIG (Denmark); Erginoğlu & Çalışlar (Turkey); Andrew Maynard Architects (Australia); Chiaki Arai Urban and Architecture Design (Japan); Mercurio Design Lab (Italy); Turenscape (China); Architectural Studio Kudin (Ukraine) and TROP (Thailand).

Entry Conditions

Eligibility

 

Who can enter?

  • Individual architects, practices, multi-professional teams, landscape architects
  • Developers, funders, contractors and other associated organisations (for example clients), may also enter on behalf of the architect, with their consent

What can be entered?

  • Buildings, projects and landscapes, completed between 1 January 2013 and 1 June 2014 for Completed Buildings and Landscapes*, there is no time restrictions for Future Projects entries. If you have drawings of your future plans why not enter them into WAF
  • There is no limit on the number of buildings/projects that can be submitted
  • Buildings/projects can be submitted in more than one category where relevant, including INSIDE the sister event of WAF which celebrates the best interiors of the last year.
  • All designs must be by professionals whose qualifications are recognised by their local accreditation organisation

* Please note: If your building is shortlisted, two representatives from your practice will need to purchase tickets and be available to present at the Festival in Singapore. If your project wins a WAF category award, the architect must be available at the Festival to collect the trophy at the closing ceremony on the final evening of Friday 3rd October 2014.

Entry requirements

All entries must be submitted in English. There are 3 compulsory stages to entry:

  1. Tell us what project you are entering and submit payment (this will generate a unique identity code which can be downloaded and attached to the physical entry)
  2. Completion of online entry - deadline for completion is 30 May 2014
  3. Submission of exhibition boards, with identity code attached - deadline for submition of exhibition boards is 6 June 2014

Online entry

Entrants must submit an online entry which will include contact details.

Each entry must contain a minimum of:

  • A minimum of 6 x low resolution photographs (NOT visualisations unless a future project) of the project (maximum of 20)
  • 3 x further images of a site plan, floor plan, key section
  • 250 words of explanatory text describing the project
  • 1 x high resolution image, up to 300 DPI

Please ensure that you are authorised to use all images

and a maximum of:

  • 20 images including photographs, elevations, sections, details and plans
  • 1000 words of explanatory text
  • 3 x high resolution images, up to 300 DPI

All photos should be in JPEG format. Individual images must be no larger than 8MB

The information submitted in your online entry may be used on our website and on www.worldbuildingsdirectory.com.

By submitting the entry you acknowledge that The World Architecture Festival and its partners have the right to reproduce photography, drawings and other information materials in whole or part without payment of copyright (where we are made aware of their names, photographers will be acknowledged) in connection to the Festival.

Entry categories

World Architecture Festival Award Entries close in 4 days

There are 30 award categories to enter covering completed buildings, future projects and landscapes. There are also two new, free to enter prizes: the Wood Excellence Prize sponsored by The American Hardwood Export Council and the Exterior Colour Prize sponsored by AkzoNobel.

Have you been working on an interior architecture or design project recently?

WAF is co-located with INSIDE World Festival of Interiorswhich hosts a separate awards programme to recognise industry leading interior projects. There are 13 categories to enter and the winners will be decided live at the festival by a judging panel of distinguished designers and editors led by Rossana Hu (left) of acclaimed design practice and Wallpaper Designers of the Year, Neri&Hu.
