The Transforming Architectural Practice Series will explore emerging topics in the management of business in the A&E industry, such as new media, more diverse service offerings, fiscal opportunities and talent management.  We’ll draw on the experiences and successes of individuals in related design and creative professions to meet the needs of mid-career and entrepreneurial professionals who are looking for ideas to grow both established practices and new ventures. The series includes 5 sessions on Monday evenings, 6-8 pm, as outlined below.

Session Description:
Dr Adams will present a unique methodology for asking questions to improve the performance of your own organization and your client solutions.  Her techniques hold intriguing potential for both critical engagement with our employees and unique approaches to programming and early design development.

Conversation topics will include methods for:

  • Developing solutions to new and long standing organizational effectiveness and business challenges
  • Responding quickly to and implementing changes
  • More strategically analyzing and considering possibilities for growth
  • Finding new ways of collaborating and breaking down barriers that impede success

Speaker Profile: Marilee Adams, Ph.D., is president of the Inquiry Institute. An author, organizational consultant, executive coach, and professional speaker, her passion is teaching the thinking, questioning, and communication skills that help people be more successful and satisfied. Power THINQING™ work forms the core of her presentations.

Adams’ corporate consulting clients include Lockheed Martin, Seimens Building Technologies, Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Aetna U.S. Healthcare, as well as the National Defense University and NASA Goddard. Her publication Change Your Questions, Change Your Life : 10 Powerful Tools for Life and Work is an international best-seller and is one of many  books, articles and chapters which she has authored.  She is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University in the Key Executive Leadership Program and is also affiliated with Columbia University’s Global Learning & Leadership Group at Teachers College.
