The 18th International Advanced Building Skins Conference & Expo will take place on 30-31 October 2023 at the Kursaal Conference Center in Bern, Switzerland.
The leading international event for innovative building envelope design and materials is the perfect platform for productive networking with architects, engineers and representatives from the construction industry.
Thom Mayne will deliver a keynote at this year’s conference. He is the founding partner of Morphosis (Los Angeles), an interdisciplinary architectural and planning practice.
Mayne was honored with the Pritzker Prize and the Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA). He has been the recipient of over 120 AIA awards and numerous other design recognitions since the launch of Morphosis.
"I have always embraced an architecture of complexity, of disruption, of ambiguity,” Mayne says. In his presentation he will explore how two dynamic bodies are connected by light through a membrane. Mayne will discuss how to cope with constraints, and how to achieve the final building skin concept by “playing with multiple surfaces".
Over 80 international architects, engineers, scientists and representatives of the construction industry will present new projects and developments in the design of building envelopes.
This year’s conference topics include: Glass for Sustainable Construction, Integrating Solar Technologies into the Building Skin, Innovative Products and Technologies for Building Skins and Models, Tools and Simulations for Sustainable Buildings.
Presentations are in English. The two-day ticket for €680 includes lunches, coffee breaks and the conference documentation with the speakers’ papers. To register, please visit the website.
Visitors who are unable to attend the event in Bern, they can join the conference via a webinar. The event is offering online access to all sessions for one year. The fee is €480 for a single user and €980 for a company license, see details here.
