WAF announces its 2018 Prize Shortlist

World Architecture Festival (WAF) has announced shortlist for its 2018 World Architecture Festival Prizes, varying from the Amsterdam Prize, Best Use of Certified Timber, Glass Future Prize to Best Use of Colour and Small Project of the Year Prize.

Selected projects will be presented by the shortlisted architects to a special WAF jury on Friday 30th of November in Amsterdam. The overall winner for each prize will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner in the Beurs van Berlage that evening. 

This year, WAF will be held at the RAI convention centre in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam from November 28 to November 30, 2018. World Architecture Community is an official Media Partner for the event and will be bringing you the hottest topics, key discussions and keynote sessions from the three-day event.

The 'Amsterdam Prize' 

To mark this year's festival location, WAF is launching an ‘Amsterdam Prize’ for the best building in the city, completed between January 2017 and July 2018.

Best Use of Certified Timber Prize

This is the first time WAF will be presenting a prize for the 'Best Use of Certified Timber' in completed buildings. This prize is supported by the Programme for Endorsement for Forest Certification (PEFC).

The Best Use of Colour Prize, supported by Eastman, has been a popular special prize at WAF in recent years. All shortlisted completed building entries will be reviewed by a special jury on the last day of the Festival.

This new WAF prize, sponsored by Guardian Glass, will be awarded to a Future Project entry which points to new ways in which glass and glass technology can be deployed in projects of any scale.
