Sussex-based company Tree Tents has designed an elongated wooden cabin wrapped by aluminium outer shell to reflect nature that surrounds it.
Named The Fusage, the cabin 15-square-metre cabin is designed as the most innovative new structure as its hardwood and aluminium airframe is lightweight, durable and provides a flexible and spacious interior.
"Our most innovative, adaptable and exciting glamping structure yet," said Jason Thawley, Tree Tents International, Founder and Innovation and Design Director.
Inspired by the principles of modern aerospace design, the cabin is design 3 meter by 5 meter and offers a lightweight, robust and extremely portable accommodation solution. Designed like an aeroplane, the Fuselage is engineered to go further distances.
The Fuselage is designed and built using materials lightweight enough to allow it to be suspended or mounted on stilts – making it suitable for a range of challenging conditions. The Fuselage has great eco-cred using sustainably sourced wood and recycled aluminium to achieve an eco-friendly and robust structure.
Designed for every season, a triple-layer insulated skin system keeps the elements out along with wood stove and low-voltage radiant heating options ensures guests stay warm and toasty or cool and dry – whatever the weather.
By proposing a clever modular design, the design proposes that if there is a damage, it can be repaired easily with minimal disruption and cost.
"At Tree Tents, we want to make the process of creating a world-class glamping escape on your site as easy as possible. So all of our structures come prefabricated and flat-packed to ensure quick installation that causes minimal disruption to your business and the site," said Tree Tents team.
"This means it is possible to install yourself (with a little guidance from a Tree Surgeon for suspended structures) or you can book it in with our expert installation team."
Depending on which structure and customisation options buyers choose, it typically takes 6-8 weeks to design, build and deliver the structure. Once delivered, Tree Tents' installation team can install in around 2-4 days, depending on the weather.
The cabin's price is £26,000 + VAT ($33,000) including installation. The structures are made bespoke which means they are tailored to clients' site, needs and budget, explained the team.
