Dutch Design Week (DDW), the biggest design event in Northern Europe, takes place from 22 to 30 October 2022 across various venues in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
DDW presents work and ideas of more than 2600 designers to more than 350,000 visitors from home and abroad. The event presents works in more than 110 locations across the city, with exhibitions, lectures, prize ceremonies, networking events, debates and festivities.
Focusing on the design of the future and the future of design, DDW's objective to show how designers from around the world shape a positive future and to strengthen the position and meaning of Dutch designers.
Marjan van Aubel, founder of award-winning, innovative solar design practice Marjan van Aubel Studio, and Formafantasma, founded by the Italian duo Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, are the ambassadors of the 21st edition of Dutch Design Week (DDW).
This year's theme is titled Get Set, which will explore a shift in designer's mentality and vibe, it will delve into a shift from preparation to action.
"You can explain Get Set in many ways. Of course, we must get set for the challenges we're facing, but we must also get our setting right. We must forge smart coalitions and work together on the missions and the challenges we’re facing. Be prepared and recognise what is going on. Feel involved. But the most important message is that people must get activated. Doing nothing is not an option anymore. We have to act now. And not everything will work out the way we plan or hope, but I don’t think that’s a problem at all. The only mistake we can make is just not to get started. So get set!," said Marjan van Aubel.
