Design Educates Awards has announced winners for its 2022 edition, the awards annually recognize the best projects that respond to complex social and environmental contexts and carry educational value.

The winners were selected in four categories: Architectural Design, Product Design, Universal Design, and Responsive Design. 

The award-winning solutions include a variety of projects, from innovative installations solving the problem of water shortages in desert areas to bridges and artisan workshops combining tradition with modern designs. 

LUO studio's Timber Bridge in Gulao Water Town was announced as the winner in Architectural Design category for 2022, which is crowned with "Winner of The Year". 

The Emerging Designer Award for the best student project went to Henry Glogau Studio for its "Solar Desalination Skylight", while the Solarlux Choice Award went to Rosan Bosch Studio for their "GO! Campus Zotteg".

The Design Educates Awards is organized by Laka Foundation, a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization. The inspiration for the awards theme comes from the research called Educating Buildings (Bildende Bauten) by Dr. Peter Kuczia. 

The DEAwards 2022 received 400 applicants from 30 countries and announced 43 winners. The Jury composed of 15 international experts, including Prof. Toyo Itō, Jette Cathrin Hopp, MVRDV founder Winy Maas, Jakob Lange, and more.
