DesignDC, the annual three-day regional conference that focuses on the unique challenges posed by working in the D.C. Metro area for architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, planners, landscape architects, and will be held on October 2-4, 2018 at Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The theme for this year's event is Constructing an Equitable Future. The conference intends to analyze the role of architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, planners, landscape architects, and developers in creating working, playing, and living spaces open to all regardless of ability, income-level, or age.

Day 1 and Day 2 include educational sessions and trade show exhibits at the Washington Convention Center,  Day 3 is full of opportunities to tour projects across DC, MD, and VA. The conference has a jam-packed agenda for all three days, with Ralph Cunningham, Rob Holzbach, Scott Welch, and Jessica Anderson being some of the many speakers giving their thoughtful insight on the issues. 

Jonathan Rose of the Jonathan Rose Companies is the keynote speaker of the event. He graduated from Yale University in 1974 with a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy, and received a Masters in Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. His work focuses on creating environmentally, socially and economically resilient cities. He has testified before U.S. Senate and House Committees on housing, infrastructure and environmental issues, and served as an Adviser to the White House Office of Urban Affairs. Mr. Rose has also authored books on how to create resilient cities, The Well-Tempered City: What Modern Science, Ancient Civilizations and Human Nature Teach Us About the Future of Urban Life.

All participants can register for the event. Design DC follows a special trajectory on their ticket pricing policy to bring an array of people from various sectors of architecture and urbanism. Interested volunteers can reach out to Tina Hochberg, AIA|DC.
