MIMOA announces campaign for its new digital interface on smartphones

MIMOA, the global architecture guide, has launched a crowdfund campaign on Kickstarter to develop a new digital interface of the platform, to make it possible to search and scan nearby architectural highlights and hidden gems on your smartphones.

Jacob van Rijs of MVRDV, BIG, and Julian Weyer of C.F. Møller are among supporters to help it improve its digital content. MIMOA was launched in 2007 by two Dutch architects and has grown to a global community platform for and by architecture lovers from all parts of the world.

It is the place to be for all travelers in search for information on architecture and culturally relevant buildings to visit; varying from the contemporary highlights, not-to-be-missed interior designs, the most fanciest bridges, hidden gems suggested by local architecture fans as well as the well-known classics, designed by starchitects.

In the past 11 years MIMOA proved its success. With a small enthusiastic team and growing community of over 40.000 architects and architecture lovers, they have built up a global brand and database with 10.000 buildings in over 90 different countries attracting almost 1 million visitors per year. To continue MIMOA it is essential to rebuild our complete database and platform practically from scratch. The needed investment is significant and inevitable.

Mobile-first redesign

In order to secure their valuable user-generated content and implement improvements architecture fans have so fiercely desired, Mieke Vullings – founder of MIMOA – is reaching out to all architecture lovers around the world to help keep MIMOA in the air and build a complete new and advanced platform: future- proof to handle the growing number of visitors ánd optimized for mobile.

The new MIMOA will lead to a faster growing community of like-minded architecture fans, an increase of high quality content and better geographical coverage. Therewith MIMOA will make it easier to explore new destinations, and also re-discover the unknown closer to home.

"I strongly believe in the future of MIMOA because there are still so much architectural treasures to be unearthed. With architecture as our mutual passion, I am convinced that together we can take MIMOA to the next level," Mieke Vullings, founder of MIMOA.
