The Literary Club of Academy of Architecture (AOA), Mumbai, has been conducting a webinar series since September this year, on “Architectural Journalism and Writing”. The series is concluding with its fourth webinar titled “Beyond Architectural Journalism and Writing”, led by Speaker Architect Shriti Das. The webinar is scheduled at 5 PM Indian Standard Time, on Friday, October 30th 2020. Registration details are mentioned at the end of this page.

AOA Literary Club

The Literary Club of AOA is a collective space for the college’s reading and writing enthusiasts. It is currently under the co-ordination of students from the final year, Devika Biyani and third year, Chaitanyaa Agrawal, of AOA. The club aims to advocate the unpopular niche of writing, both within architecture and in general, for the students of AOA. The club organizes sessions, competitions and other pop-up activities to encourage literary interests amongst students.

About the Webinar - “Beyond Architectural Journalism and Writing”

The webinar will focus on illuminating to the students and architects alike, the different ways of career-building in the architecture professional niche of design media. This webinar, as the final part of the series’ aim to build a concise discourse on the upcoming career of Architecture Writing, will serve as a culmination by discussing a professional exploration for the aspiring community. The speaker Shriti Das, in her address, will touch upon areas of skill equipment and professional collaborative ideas for the writer-architects to help chart out their personal and professional development in the literary and communicative niche of our profession.

“Shriti will illustrate how writing is a tool for exploring ideas, documentation, and even pursuing diverse vocations like branding, media strategy, communications, etc. The talk shall offer honest insights into aspects like the commercials of writing, how to charge, should one work for free, ghost-writing, and more”, say the Literary Club Coordinators.

About the Speaker - Architect Shriti Das

Shriti Das is an architect with multiple arms of work functioning as a writer, editor, strategist and consultant. Shriti’s body of work comprises forms of writing, observations, media and communication and academia. “A Sub-Editor with People Place Project and Indian Architect & Builder, a contributing writer at Fish Do It Consultants, she is also currently leading Biltrax Media as the Associate Editor to create an online publication for a data analytics platform about construction”, say the Literary Club Coordinators. Besides being an architect in the mainstream, Shriti also receives consultations for brand strategizing, written contributions for ItsWorthwhile and ghost-writing about healthcare.
