Celebrating First 500 Black Women Architects - Webinar on March 8
United States Architecture News - Mar 05, 2021 - 10:36 3799 views
Join the Equity Committee by WIELD as we celebrate the First 500 milestone. The First 500, an initiative started by Tiara Hughes, focuses on highlighting Black women architects & raising awareness of their distinction. Before 2020, there were less than 500 licensed African American women architects in the US. Our celebration will highlight some of DC’s own architects among the First 500 about their pathway to licensure and their experiences as well as the future for Black women in the profession. While the story and contributions of Black women architects continue to grow and be celebrated, the industry's future will continue to improve as long as there are dedicated individuals willing to persevere and push through the adversity to create an opportunity for all.
