Urbanity, Middle Class Families and Planning by Johanna Lilius

Dr. Johanna Lilius is a planner and geographer and a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Architecture/Aalto University. Her research has focused on housing and housing policy & development, (strategic) urban planning and development, suburban regeneration, urban cultures and lifestyles as well as urban entrepreneurs. As a consultant, she has developed housing concepts and facilitated stakeholder meetings and planning sessions. She is the author of "Reclaiming Cities as Spaces of Middle-Class Parenthood" (Palgrave Macmillan).

Malta Co-Housing Project By Pentti Kareojaand Salla Korpella

Pentti Kareoja is a professor at the Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture since 2002 and a partner-in-charge of ARK-house Architects since 1995. Besides his own practices, Kareoja has been involved in various co-operation projects and worked for other offices in Finland and abroad since 1979, including for example Kevin Roche, USA. He has received awards and prizes in architecture including State award of architecture in 2002 and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion Award for European architecture.

Salla Korpela is a cohousing expert and intentional community builder. She was the founding mother of Finland's first and so far largest cohousing project developed by its future inhabitants, the Malta House. She has written two books on the subject and works now as a professional consultant in the field.
