EDIT Napoli launches the open call for its second edition for Naples
Italy Architecture News - Dec 04, 2019 - 17:09 9502 views
EDIT Napoli, the first fair created to support and promote independent designers and design authors, is back after its successful debut edition, which captured the attention of the design world and of design lovers, involving more than 60 international exhibitors and activating multiple synergies.
The event, which will take place on 5 — 7 June 2020, confirms its exceptional venue: the Complesso di San Domenico Maggiore in the historical city center of Naples and launches its open call for designers, design studios, manufacturers and craftspeople - you can apply to the fair from here.
From the beginning, EDIT Napoli has promoted design that values quality over quantity, paying great attention to exploring the creative process and the use of materials in the search for a sophisticated expressiveness.

At the core of the selection curated by the creators of the fair, Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petruccelli, will be pieces that encapsulate high quality production processes and that blend contemporary ideas and methods with ancient ways of doing. Collections related to small-scale production that tell a story, without overlooking the industrial sphere.
In June, an expert committee composed of the Dutch designer — Piet Hein Eek, Londonese Mint shop founder — Lina Kanafani and web director of ELLE Decor Italy — Alessandro Valenti, will confer and select the best unreleased work of 2020. The winner will be the piece that best embodies the values promoted by EDIT Napoli: intelligent design, profound respect for cultural heritage and a well-balanced price.

To enrich the event program, a series of collaborations and special projects will be showcased in the courtyard and the monumental interiors of the Complesso di San Domenico Maggiore — among these, a retrospective exhibition of projects and prototypes from the Cappellini archive.

In their mission to tell the story of an important Italian design figure, Giulio Cappellini and the creators of EDIT Napoli will present an authentic panorama to those who, with different goals and dimensions, approach the path of creator and entrepreneur.
From the Mediterranean, EDIT Napoli looks into the future with the aim of transforming the Neapolitan city into a world reference point for authorial design.
