BIG 5 Construct Qatar - Qatar’s pivotal event of the International building Construction industry officially kicked off its second edition on 23rd September at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The three-day event brought down the curtain on Wednesday 25th September 2019 after hailing success on one-on-one business, networking opportunities and professional development workshops, all in an effort to advance the local construction industry.

The Big 5 Construct showcased the latest construction innovations and products. The event brought together more than 150+ exhibitors from 20+ countries and a comprehensive portfolio of building materials, construction products and solutions under one roof. Adding to the platter, Live product demonstrations with about 35+ free-to-attend workshops, the show was visitors’ focal point for professional development.

Visitors claimed to benefit from a pool of over 150+ exhibitors from 20+ countries, representing the entire building process across seven product sectors: MEP services; building interiors and finishes; building envelope and special construction; construction tools and building materials; construction technologies and innovations; concrete, and plant machinery and vehicles. In addition, free workshops on the sidelines offered insight into the latest industry trends, tools, and techniques.

The agenda was comprised of 36+ CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified workshops covering the latest industry topics across topics including General Construction, Project Management, Architecture and Design, Sustainability and the hugely popular final day talks on BIM and Women in Construction.

Day 1 - Covered Themes - General Construction, Project Management. "Leadership role in Project Management" workshop covered 3 main cores  - Project Management Life Cycle, Effective Leadership & its role in PM and the sense of development. Topics like - Triple Constraint, PMI Talent Triangle, Leader vs. Manager, and RASCI Matrix were covered. Insight on introducing New design strategies in Existing Buildings was talked about in the "Re-Invigorating & Re-Branding of Outdated Buildings" through a case study.

Day 2 - Covered Themes - Architecture and Design and Sustainability. Discussions about Sustainable Development in Qatar, followed by case studies and experiences by the speakers were discussed. WELL Certification introduction was given and importance on Inhabitant of the Built environment was discussed.

Day 3 - Covered Themes - BIM and Women in Construction. New Technologies were talked about in the arena of BIM. Women leadership in the industry shared their experiences and thoughts on the topics of the sessions.

Overall, the three-day event proved to be an insightful one.
