Anju George - Canada
Since May 23, 2019
Anju George has been appointed as Canada's Country Reporter, as part of the WAC's Country Editors/Reporters program. Anju George is an architect and urban planner, who spends almost every waking minute thinking of how the onus is on us, planners, to help cities become platforms for just about anyone to thrive.
"Ever since the time I can remember, I have wanted to make a change in people’s lives," says Anju George. She became an Architect (Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi) to do just that. After completing her Master of City Planning at Boston University, she knew she wanted to tread on the path of changing lives and giving communities hope. George has also authored scientific papers on the challenges cities face, with the hope of inspiring future city planners to create people-oriented and sustainable cities.
As an Indian having lived most of her life in the UAE, moving to Canada could not have come at a more ideal time. She has lived and worked in many countries across the globe, invoking in her a further appreciation of the way cities offer anonymity and character in perfect harmony, thereby becoming ‘places’ of hope.
"And yes, I love animals, with my utmost favourites being horses and dogs. Having fallen from horses scores of times, I intend to stay put and perfect my riding skills one day," added George.
You can follow Anju on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram.
If you also want to be part of our volunteer reporters and become "the voice of your country on WAC while being the face of WAC in your country", please send your motivation message and your CV to [email protected]. We also accept more than one reporter by country.
