Where the World Meets Mumbai
Gone are the days when reader’s contributions to news media were limited to the ‘Letters to the Editor’ page. Nowadays, especially with the advance of new media technology and the normalcy of cell phones, citizens collect, report, analyse, and distribute news and information, sometimes more quickly than traditional journalists.
To help contextualize this new concept for our audience, Avid Learning and the U.S. Consulate Mumbai present Citizen Journalism: Where the West meets Mumbai. Christine Tatum, President and CEO of Media Salad, and Shishir Joshi, CEO of Bombay First, will discuss the evolution of journalism, drawing on examples from the U.S., India, and the rest of the world. They will provide an insight into how news coverage has been democratized through the multiplicity of voices being heard.
