Following the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines, URSA Insulation has made its Sustainability Report public, showing the company’s commitment towards sustainability. Under the title Sustainability at Work, this report looks at the company’s main achievements and activities over the past months, aiming to consolidate energy renovation of residential buildings and NZEB construction.
One of the key topics of this document is the effort that URSA Insulation is carrying out towards preventing accidents at work in the 13 factories that the company has in the whole of Europe. In the last few years, several annual Prevention of Accidents at Work Programmes have been implemented, thanks to which the number of accidents has been reduced by 80%. As an example worth highlighting, the plant of Serpuchov (Russia) has reached an impressive one million hours without accidents.
Another of the key aspects detailed in the Report is the increase in the use of recycled materials in mineral wool production. The company has multiplied the use of these materials 22% compared to 2010. Furthermore, it is undertaking an important effort in energy saving and reducing polluting emissions.
Likewise, the document reflects URSA’s effort to develop more sustainable and efficient policies, as shown in the latest work that the logistics and I+D departments have accomplished to improve product compression and thus make packaging more effective.
Together with these aspects relative to energy efficiency and sustainability, “Sustainability at Work” dedicates some pages to the activities addressed to company workers, specially focusing on actions related to developing staff opportunities through training programmes and internal promotions.
According to URSA Insulation Marketing Director, Efrén del Pino, the company’s report reflects its contribution to a form of architecture acquiescent with sustainable development. “Not only are we trying to offer environmentally friendly products. We also have to demonstrate our commitment towards sustainable buildings. In this report, we cover the most important areas of our activity and key indicators that, in our opinion, have the greatest impact on sustainable construction and development. In the future, we want to continue improving and reinforcing the way in which we deliver information on all our sustainable initiatives.”
URSA will also have an important role in the World Sustainable Building Conference, World SB14 Barcelona, participating as PLATINUM sponsor. It will be the brilliant closure of a year in which sustainability has been the central point of the company’s activity.
The report, under the title “Sustainability at Work”, is available on the website and can be downloaded here.
