The City of Ithaca is in the process of drafting a new comprehensive plan to replace an outdated plan from 1971. The new plan will represent a historic reframing of the future of Ithaca. According to the city’s 2012 Planning Influences Report, 57 percent of Ithaca's population is comprised of college students, yet students are less likely to get involved in local planning.
Students from CRP 5530 Concepts and Methods of Land Use Planning have organized a special opportunity for students from Cornell University, Ithaca College, and Tompkins Cortland Community College to learn about the city's comprehensive plan and to provide feedback on it.
Anyone who is interested in the future of the City of Ithaca is encouraged to drop by anytime between 5:30–8:30 p.m. to participate. Refreshments will be provided.
Read a draft of the City of Ithaca Comprehensive Plan, which includes information about other open houses.
For more information, contact Jennifer La Roca, public outreach lead for the open house or Assistant Professor Jennifer Minner.
