Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, chair of the Clemson University School of Architecture, was honoured by Design Intelligence magazine as one of the 30 Most Admired Educators in the USA. The report observed that "Kate Schwennsen has brought renewed energy and focus to Clemson’s program. A strong advocate for the profession with a clear vision for the school, Schwennsen brings the practical world into the academic world for a more integrated educational experience. She has a very good personal connection with students; she is dedicated to helping them prepare for the profession."
Kate Schwennsen is co-director of the UIA Architectural Education commission and co- reporter of the UIA-UNESCO validation council for architectural education. She served as president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for 2006.
