Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus has been nominated for The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – the Mies van der Rohe Award 2015.
The new museum is among a number of Danish projects which have been nominated for the world-renowned architecture prize, The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015.
In 2013, the biannual prize was awarded to Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavík – a building also designed by Henning Larsen Architects. This was the first time the prize was given to Scandinavian architects.
The award is given by the European Union and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. Projects which are found worthy of the award are nominated by carefully chosen, independent experts from all European countries and members of ACE – the Architects’ Council of Europe. In the next stage, the jury will evaluate all nominated projects and determine a final shortlist.
The Mies van der Rohe Award was given for the first time in 1987 and is funded by the European Union’s Culture Programme in collaboration with the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. The prize will be awarded in Barcelona in May 2015.
University of Southern Denmark, Campus Kolding by Henning Larsen Architects has also been nominated for next year's award.
