The Urban Environment Re-Imagined / Iwan Baan at MIPIM 2016

Iwan Baan, photographer, presenting new urban environments

When urban design focuses exclusively on the people who live in it, amazing things can happen.  Over the last few years, the Schindler Transit Management Group has worked with architects and academics from around the world to undertake a fundamental re-examination of the way in which buildings are designed and how this approach is driven by configuration rules defined a century ago by the elevator companies.

The most attractive and creative session has been held MIPIM 2016, Innvation Forum with Iwan Baan, Dutch photographer and Dr. Paul Friedli, Head Transit Management Group, Schindler Aufzüge AG. There is a dialectical relationaship between images and architecture especially urban environment. Images are so powerful that they change the way we think architecture and new urban communities undoubtedly.

Iwan Baan has made a great presentation about new communities spreading to many areas of the world with their own efforts and workship. Iwan's photographs redefined a new methodology and the other aspects of urban communities who are making their own places with local efforts. Urban environment is an approach which removes many of the most difficult constraints experienced by architects by completely re-examining the transportation within and between the buildings they are creating.

Iwan Baan has showed various urban and rural projects focusing on how people are designing a place for themselves and reveals a real city, which we are trying to create with architects and urban planners. Baan's examples included Philippines, Japan, India, Kenya and Lagos, which became the real cities in the world built by local materials, textures and natural resources.
