11am - 1pm: Review-Gabriel Fries-Briggs | Integrated Building Systems | Hallway Basement level
1pm- 3pm: Review -Erin Besler: Moving Constraint | Room B309
4pm - 6pm: Symposium
Influences and References | Room 1102 | Organized by Professor Neil Denari
Inspired by Experimental Jetset’s presentation of Influences, A-Z during their January 26th lecture, the Influences and References symposium aims to examine the ways in which specific people and their works affect our own thinking and production as architects and imagemakers. From Jean-Luc Godard, to Sonic Youth, to Wim Crouwel, Experimental Jetset located their work in the continuum of Late Modernism, and in the Dutch counterculture of the late 1960’s. Moderated and with an introduction by Professor Neil Denari, Influences and References will ask questions about generational interests, historicity, progress, ideology, and the difference between nostalgia, the resuscitated, and the inexhaustible.
Panelists include:
Wonne Ickx, Visiting Assistant Professor, UCLA A.UD
Jimenez Lai, Lecturer, UCLA A.UD
Rebeca Mendez, Professor, UCLA Design Media Arts
Tom Wiscombe, Principal, Tom Wiscombe Architecture
