Lecture: Displaying Architecture: Andreas Angelidakis
15 October 2015, @ 6:00 pm
Paul Desmarais Theatre
Presented in English
The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) presents education and architecture events as part of Displaying Architecture, a CCA series that looks at the relationship between architecture and spaces of display. Andreas Angelidakis describes his exhibition practice as a single continuous project that investigates the architecture of exhibiting. This talk will focus on the development of his practice across five exhibitions: the third Thessaloniki Biennial; The System of Objects at the DESTEFoundation in Athens; Every End Is a Beginning at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens; 1:1 Period Rooms, a commission from Het Nieuwe Instituut; and the twelfth Baltic Triennial.
Angelidakis lives and works in Athens. Trained as an architect, he maintains a practice centered on research and exhibition. His work often focuses around the internet and the perceptive and behavioral changes it has brought about. Inspired by the city of Athens, his practice also frequently deals with the notion of ruin—ancient, contemporary, or imaginary. Other recent and upcoming exhibitions that Angelidakis has participated in, curated, or designed include the first Chicago Architecture Biennial, Super Superstudio at PAC Milano, and Alejandro Jodorowsky at CAPC Bordeaux.
